Sculpting with FOSSHAPE - July 14- 18 at Red Deer College

Discover what is possible with FOSSHAPE! This soft, pliable fabric can be formed and shaped into fantastic permanent objects when exposed to steam, heat or dry heat. It can be painted, dyed or decorated with a variety of artisan coatings and paints. It has superior strength and flexibility, yet is wonderfully lightweight and mildew resistant. It's the "Buckram" alternative without the mess. Let your imagination flow as we take on a number of different projects utilizing a variety of tools & techniques to create anything from hats, headpieces, sub-structures, masks, props and scenic materials. Dynamic Colour on Sensuous Silk - July 28- August 1 at Red Deer College

Experiment with vibrant colours and discover the dynamic qualities of silk as an artistic medium. Learn techniques using French dyes and a resist to create coloured textures and artistic expressions while painting directly onto the fabric. You may want to bring along simple design ideas for working with the silk, although it is not necessary. Information on dyeing other fibres will also be discussed. On and Under Your Skin- Sculptural and Felting Workshop - July 21-25 at Red Deer College

Deepen the consciousness about experiences learned from sculpting with felt and other fibers. Explore different sculptural form ideas to become more aware of how and why use this medium. Focus on basics like colour, design and conceptions of a creation. You will be challenged to experiment with your designs using sculptural felting techniques while deepening your awareness of the creative process. Weave Summer & Winter on Eight Shafts with Mary Bentley, September 5-7, 2014. Check out the poster and additional information. Jean Curry writes; "Many of our members remember Mary Bentley, the master of Summer and Winter.  She has semi-retired from teaching, but has agreed to teach here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of BC. Jean took her 8 shaft Summer and Winter this September and said that it was wonderful.  She is such a knowledgeable and sharing teacher.  It is so worth the trip.  We can find recommendations for places to stay that are affordable. Consider a retreat with a couple of friends!!!"

Yoshiko Wada is coming to Calgary, a world expert on Shibori dyeing, she will be teaching in August of 2014. She will be giving a 3-day workshop on Sculptural Shibori, and a 2-day workshop on Nautral Dyeing. Approximate dates: August 24-28, 2014. Cost: approximately $350 per course. 50% non-refundable deposit request once details are finalized. Details can be seen at
